Physical Description: Hassan is 6’4” and of a lean, muscular build that’s earned from living a difficult and dangerous life. He has a tanned, olive complexion (ethnically Palestinian), brown eyes and dark hair that curls even when cropped short. There are a variety of scars over his body from various battles and scrapes throughout his life. While he looks as though he’s in his early thirties, he’s actually in his mid-twenties, thanks to a relationship with a succubus that literally took years from his life.

He tends to dress casual in warm earth tones, khakis and black. He also has a very expressive face and his (usually) amiable personality shines through during casual interactions.

Sexuality:
Hassan grew up in a very heteronormative (often homophobic) society, and even though he’s become much more tolerant as he’s grown up, he’s shown no interest in exploring ideas of sexual fluidity and identifies as straight. That said, he prefers to date women of colour. Growing up in a very intense, political climate means he appreciates someone who gets it, and if they’re Middle Eastern like himself, even better.

World Information:
OWoD AKA World of Snuggles.

History:
Hassan was born in the Al-Shati refugee camp in the Gaza Strip, the eldest son in his family, and his parents' pride and joy. He was well-behaved and respectful, extremely excited when his little sister was born, and generally a happy, healthy kid despite growing up in a very tumultuous area.

That changed when he was about four-years-old. He became abruptly withdrawn and moody for no apparent reason to the adults around him. One Uncle in particular would chide him for his morose behavior and –married but with no children of his own— offered to take him alone on outings. Due to the implicit trust they placed in his father’s brother, Hassan’s parents were more than happy to send him off for things they wouldn’t be able to do due to money and the hassle of arranging transport and days out for multiple children. And Hassan was too afraid to protest, because his Uncle had already made him think no one would believe him and implied that, if Hassan didn’t go along with it, he’d start taking his younger sister instead. And unfortunately, that was life for the next three years.

When he was seven years old, his five-year-old sister Safiya approached him with a strange Jewish boy who had appeared out of nowhere one day and asked her if she wanted to play. Hassan was initially standoffish towards him because he wanted to protect his sister from strangers, but weeks later, when they were approached by agents of the Technocracy, Hassan and Safiya witnessed Uri kill all of them –at five and a half, Uri didn't really understand the permanence of death, he just wanted the "bad suits" to leave his friends alone. Uri told Safiya he'd just convinced them to go away, but Hassan was old enough to know something was off about it, and cornered him. Hassan was the first and only person Uri ever explicitly told about his magic, and the Technocracy, and the Nephandi. After that, Hassan informally adopted him as a little brother. He played the straight man for the two younger children most of the time and did some major mother henning, despite only being a couple of years older than them himself.

Incidentally, his personality shifted again when he was eight, after the death of his uncle –heart attack, very unexpected— although he never told anyone why (even if a certain someone had guessed). Although he was still intense and moody, he was much less reserved than he had been. He began to pick up an interest in sports (which proved a good way to get rid of his pent up anger and frustrations), which also helped his self-confidence, and he finally started making friends at school.

When he was ten-years-old, however, he and his sister were attacked by Nephandi mages. Uri arrived in time to save Hassan, but not Safiya, who they had taken. Hassan demanded seven-year-old Uri find and rescue his sister, but by then it was already too late; they'd taken her to lure Uri, and killed her for quintessence. They were unsuccessful in dragging Uri through the Caul to make him one of them, and out of anger, he slaughtered every one of them. Hassan was unable to accept this and blamed Uri for not being able to save his sister. He called him a monster and a murderer and told him to go away, and for a year he tried to forget him. But out of loneliness and curiosity he went back to their old meeting place and Uri was there, waiting for him like always.

They picked their friendship back up and managed to repair it, even with Safiya's absence as a heavy weight between them, until Uri abruptly stopped showing up. It was a few weeks before Hassan started to become very worried, and then afraid –and then convinced that his friend had died. There was no other explanation as to why he wouldn't come, when he'd been there every time before. Hassan had just turned fifteen, and this was the same time he received his Imbuing. He set out to avenge his sister and his friend's apparent deaths, quickly getting a name for himself in the field due to his skill and passion.

His late teens to early twenties were mostly occupied with being a Hunter, with a tumultuous and dangerous relationship with a succubus thrown in there for good measure (be…cause his life wasn’t insane enough already). He’s mistrustful of mages, but he has a tenuous alliance with the Tradition mages in Israel. He's useful to them because he keeps the vampire, demon, etc, population down, and they're useful to him because they provide him with tools, knowledge, and occasional magical back-up.

Powers:
Hunters in oWoD are essentially borderline humans who have been imbued with powers by ~mysterious forces~ which are called Edges. They’re not over the top powered and they’re only used in battle scenarios, because…that’s what these guys do.

Hassan has two Edges: his first is called Champion, where he’s able to instinctually call and force supernatural beings to confront him. The assailant will have difficulty focusing on anyone but Hassan and believe that he’s the weakest and easiest kill, something which he triggers by feigning weakness. Since he’s been at this for quite a while, he’s been imbued with a second Edge, Burn. He becomes infused with a searing energy that’s visible to all Hunters and supernatural creatures, a red-yellow glow that looks as though he’s got lava running through his veins. Coming into contact with him will be incredibly painful and damaging.

Talents/Abilities: Hassan has worked as a mechanic since leaving high school, partly because he likes cars and is a practical person who prefers to work with his hands, but mostly because a trade suits his lifestyle. He’s worked at various garages cash-in-hand or for low to middle range crooks that need things done by someone who doesn’t ask questions. He’s also experienced in producing handmade firearms: bombs, rockets, etc.

Personality:
Hassan...honestly doesn't give a flying fuck what anyone thinks about him! He's extroverted and highly opinionated, the kind of person to gesture along with every sentence (which is as much a cultural thing) and laugh loudly in public. He tends to either make friends easily or shove himself into the spaces of people who clearly dislike him, all the better to rub their faces in the fact he's not going anywhere. He's a passionate person and it borders on aggression, although he never uses it to bully or intimdate people perceived socially 'weaker' than him. But he is a young man who's been through a lot, still going through a lot, and always feel the need to keep fighting the world because he feels that, if he stops for one second, it'll throw another punch his way.

He is extremely overprotective and tends to make decisions for other people without consulting them -- one area where he can be particularly overbearing, but understandable given his background (although it doesn't excuse any times he does cross the line). He's a born leader and it shows in how he always assumes he's in charge of everything. He was the older brother, the popular jock-ish kid in school, and in adulthood he graduated to someone who needs to take charge and make plans when faced with a problem.

Occasionally he's given to bouts of withdrawn moodiness, never quite being able to shake off that childhood coping mechanism. It's usually when something has gone particularly bad, or something triggers him, although he doesn't identify it as such and doesn't use that language. He's 'pissed off and not in the mood for people' because he knows even the smallest, misplaced joke will make him kick-off, and that's not good for anyone.

He knows he can't magically fix the world of either supernatural or political problems -- he is only human, he doesn't come from a place of priviledge where he can facilitate an effective change. He's spurned on by a mixture of vegeance, because how dare these creatures think they can murder his sister and best friend and get away with it. And also because those same creatures continue to prey on vulnerable persons and the more people to stand in the way, the better.

Essentially he's a tough guy -- because that's who he is, but also because he has to be -- with a gooey marshmallow centre. He's boisterous and friendly, caring and protective, but he will seriously do his best to fuck your shit up if you go throwing your weight around in a malicious or vindictive manner.

Object
: Weaponry that is promptly going to be taken right off him. There’s also a worn picture of him and Safiya, when they were kids, which he keeps on his person at all times.

Reason for playing:
Kay and Ariel sank their teeth into me and went “yes, good.”

Gods
: He probably won’t be that interested in the Gods, possibly even going so far as to blame them for his being here, and seeing them as being complicit in the government corruption. Gods that will take an interest in him are Gediron (war) and Eliandre (death, justice, battle).
